More trouble brewing for new Andhra Chief Minister
The 20- day old Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Kirankumar Reddy is under pressure from several quarters, including his own party.
As if the announcements of main Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu and former MP from Kadapa S Jagan that if farmers issues were not solved, they would resort to fast were not enough, trouble is brewing in Krishna district party unit.
The winter session of the Assembly had run into rough weather right from the beginning on December 10 with the entire Opposition pressuring the Government to come to the rescue of farmers who have suffered losses due to cyclone a few days back. The session was being disrupted frequently with the Opposition parties insisting on their demands.
Main Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu had announced that if the Government did not take steps to save farmers, he would resort to fast- unto- death from December 16. In yet another context, S Jagan also announced that if the Government did not respond to farmers' grievances he would resort to 48- hour fast in the next two days.
With this the state is witnessing a war- like situation between the Government and the Opposition.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which has been fighting for a separate state, is also upping the ante against the Government for not lifting the cases related to students who have participated in the agitation for a separate state in December last year. The party has called for a bandh on December 16.
With the date for submission of report by Justice B N Srikrishna Committee, that had been looking into the affairs of the state, fast approaching the atmosphere in the state is becoming hot day by day.
