Opposition alleges irregularities worth Rs 3000 cr in MHADA

Opposition leader Ramdas Kadam has claimed to unearth an alleged scam in Maharashtra Housing Area and Development Authority (MHADA) worth Rs 3000 crore.

Demanding inquiry into the matter Kadam has alleged that 200 MHADA flats were sold by various builders at market rates in collusion with certain MHADA officials, thus duping the state for Rs 3000 crore.

Kadam has also asked the government to inquire as to how many plots have been given by the government to societies of sitting and retired IAS officers like Dr. Sanjay Chahande, Subhash Lalla, Dange and Khobragade. He also demanded inquiry into two or more flats given to certain bureaucrats and IPS officers.

Bureaucrats who never ever released even half an acre of land for the government colony at Bandra have usurped huge plots, alleged Kadam. Some administrative officers have usurped as many as twenty flats. As many as 32 IAS and IPS officers have got flats allotted in Maitri society, he said, and asked, " Does the government work for the common man or for the bureaucrats?" State Urban Development Minister Bhaskar Jadhav said in his reply that, " It would be difficult to say how much FSI has been granted for societies where government officers have got flats." He however hinted that action would be taken on officers ignoring standard norms.

" Meanwhile, as per development control rules while carrying out reconstruction of any building flats reserved for MHADA should be transferred back to MHADA. However, some builders have unscrupulously sold MHADA flats at market rates duping the state of Rs 3000 crore. How has NOC been granted to such societies? And why is the BMC supplying water to such societies?" Kadam asked.

He also alleged that MHADA officers have duped the state of crores of revenue in collusion with government officers in at least 112 such cases.
