Ekta’s bold Silk Smitha biopic runs into hurdle

Ekta Kapoor’s latest film Dirty Picture , based on the life story of southern sex siren Silk Smitha, is running into trouble even before it got anywhere close to being released.

The reason — southern actor- filmmaker, Vinu Chakravarthy, who also happens to be Silk Smitha’s former boyfriend. Vinu has reportedly raised objections over the film, which is being produced by Ekta and directed by Milan Lutharia.

Vinu claims that Smitha, who was originally named Vijaylakshmi, became a known name with his film Vandi Chakram in 1980. “ Vinu wants assurances that the film doesn’t have any resemblance with the one made by him. He has also demanded that the script of Dirty Picture be shown to him,” a source said.

Interstingly Ekta is not taking Vinu’s remarks lightly. She is clearly enraged with Vinu making a comment on the film without it being released even. Dirty Picture, which stars Vidya Balan as the southern siren, is an ambitious project for Ekta, and so, she is closely guarding all the developments related to it.
